Most people understand that drinking fresh water is good for them.  This means that having a convenient supply can be important whether in the home or office. While there are a number of ways that fresh water can be supplied, a drinking water cooler is an option to consider and these are convenient, easy to use devices.

A drinking water cooler most typically comprises a portable, standing base unit which features one or two faucets above a drip tray. The base unit is generally made of plastic, although metal units such as stainless steel are also available. The base unit will have a refrigeration unit within it which supplies chilled water through a faucet and on those that have two faucets the other will generally serve room temperature water as an alternative to the chilled water. These have a storage reservoir inside the base unit itself which mean that there is no need for loading bottles onto the machine. The machines from Mirex feature self sanitizing systems which sanitize the water to keep it healthy for drinking and there are a few models to choose from.

Drinking water coolers are most typically used in an office or commercial setting to provide those working in a building with a supply of fresh water to drink. Disposable cups are generally provided which are used once and then thrown away, although any type of container from bottles to standard mugs can be used. While a commercial environment is the usual location for coolers for drinking water, it can just as easily be used in the home to provide fresh drinking water for the occupants. Depending on the space you have available floor standing and counter top models are available.

If you want to set up drinking water coolers in your home or office the options are generally to buy a machine or hire one. Some of the well known manufacturers that have machines available include Oasis, Avanti and Alpine. The cost for buying a unit can range from the low hundreds of dollars for basic, smaller models into the low thousands of dollars for some of the larger, more sophisticated equipment.

It is possible to buy drinking water coolers direct from the manufacturer, although there are retailers that supply models from a wide range of manufacturers. Cooler Direct and Fresh Water Systems are a couple of retailers that have coolers for drinking water available from many of the top manufacturers. However hiring a machine is an option to consider also, as the supplier will provide the bottles for the machine where needed and also maintain the base unit. In many cases this can be a more convenient solution, especially for an office or commercial building.
